a sideways view of a good poetry reading

I attended an installment (Sam Truitt and Cynthia Hogue) of the Yes! Reading Series last night. It was enjoyable and relatively brief. I liked the way sound and images echoed in Sam’s work, and Cynthia’s work about Katrina gave me lots to think about (What are the ethics of poetic appropriation?) in terms of how we are “allowed” to use other people’s words and experiences.

I interpret reality — mine and everyone else’s — pretty loosely. The latest evidence is my experience of what did and didn’t happen at last night’s reading:

POEM REMOVED FOR EDITING.

Thanks for attending Carolee. Glad to hear you both enjoyed it and it was challenging. Hope to see you at the next one.
