UPCOMING

December 20, 2009, 2 p.m. / Season’s Readings: Holiday Poetry & Prose Open Mic
To launch our year as co-presidents of the Hudson Valley Writers Guild, Jill and I are hosting a holiday open mic. Hot coffee and warm words: what a great way to slow down for a couple hours this season! Open to the public. Bring family & friends for a new tradition.

Details: Perfect Blend (376 Delaware Avenue, Delmar, NY). No cover charge: Please bring nonperishable goods to donate to the local food bank. A sign-up for interested writers will be available at 1: 30 p.m. Writers are invited to read two pieces (short poems or prose excerpts no greater than 400 words) on the holidays (Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Solstice, etc.) or a holiday theme (such as kindness or generosity). Writers should select one piece from a published author other than themselves and one piece they have written.

January 2008/”outbursts!” (solo exhibit)

My first solo exhibit — “outbursts!” (acrylic on canvas) — is on display at Harmony House Marketplace, 148-190 Remsen Street, Cohoes. The pieces in the show use bold colors and simple female figures to explore joy and sadness, confidence and doubt. Sometimes serious, always playful, the lively characters captured on canvas make the relationship between art and emotion accessible to everyone. The exhibit lasts the entire month of January at Harmony House Marketplace (NY wines * Bakery * Gallery / 518 238-2232)
