don’t let the happy frighten you away

August 3, 2009

Perhaps the cheery, playful tone of the postcard poems confuses you. Perhaps you’re wondering, “Where are the cranky poems? I came here for the cranky poems. Am I in the right place?” You’re in the right place. And since I’d hate to disappoint you, here’s your cranky fix (okay, okay, it’s my cranky fix, too) — “Definition” posted at “i am maureen” (leave a comment here if you need the password). It’s the first piece I’ve written for a new project with a handful of fellow poets. The assignment was to write a poem about watching someone die.
