napowrimo #21

NaPoWriMo Day 21! Today’s draft is written to the Poetic Asides prompt: Write a poem with the title “According to ______.”

I had the pleasure of sitting outside on the patio at the coffee shop with Jill for a few hours midday. When we got to the writing portion of our day (it’s hard to know what the best portion is: the writing, the eating, the talking, the sunning), I did a free write on the title “According to the recipe.” Most of it was clichéd and overdone, so I haven’t included it in the draft of the poem. Though I hadn’t intended this to be a short poem, it’s all I have in me today. I’d like to develop it further (I think), but I suppose it could end where it does. At least today, for draft #1, it ends after seven lines.

Tally: 23.0 = 7.0 RWP + 13.0 PAD + 3.0 Book of Kells. (Target is now 32.)
