napowrimo #8, or oy! fish guts!

April 7, 2011

REMOVED FOR EDITING.

///

Oy. That’s all. I’m feeling down and want to go to bed, so I’m not going to insist on anything else.

I used one of the Big Tent Poetry prompts as my actual title; there’s a link to week 2 prompts in the sidebar to the right.

    This is a good piece.

    [I would offer that “bait” would be better than “worms,” a phrase like
    “much of the bait we take has hooks in it” might have a more suitable tone, and “How can
    we tell which bait?”]

    xoxo. You’re a working mom writing a poem a day. Go fish, I say!

    I can hear the traces of the repeating line. It’s close enough, I say! My friend calls them “vestigial”: the poems that approach form. Those are always the best, I say. Especially in the 21st century.

    I really like the idea carried in the last lines. That’s such an important question.
